Prices seem always to go up and up. Hard to remember when they were what is featured on this menu. My mother's generation spoke of buying a loaf of bread in her day for a nickel.

The five and dime stores were favorites in my childhood -- Woolworths, Kresges. Think they mostly had counters but some may have had booths, too. They seem to have gone by the wayside, much as the old general store of my mother's day. What type of stores will our generation lose to future generations to be replaced by what?
